Welcome to Grindelwald!

So over the weekend I got enough courage to try this blog thing out....Who knows how often I will get around to updating it, but regardless I hope it provides a small glimps into our simple but oh so loved lives here in Grindelwald, Switzerland.
Because there are many of you who have never been over to see us, I thought I would start by sharing some simple facts about our "home".

Grindelwald is a small village located in the center of the Swiss Alps. The population is about 4,000 but in the high season (Winter & Summer) it can double due to all the tourist. The village center is at the base of the famous Eiger. It's North Face wall is rated as one of the 7 hardest climbing routes in the world. A Swiss Climber, Ueli Steck, just set the newest record at an amazing 2hr. 47min. Most who attempt have anywhere from 2-3 days! (www.uelisteck.ch)

Offering a wide variety of sports, from Mt.biking, hiking, climbing, river rafting, canyoning, paragliding, alpine skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, and cross country, there isn't much you can't do.
Mandel and I try to participate in as many as possible, but when time doesn't allow it is nice to just sit in front of the house and enjoy the beautiful view. (where above picture was shot). With such incredable creations all around, it is easier to remember the "important stuff". --
We feel lucky to live in such a special place.

Wow! That is beautiful. I want to come visit. Really, I always bring it up to Craig. One day we may just show up on your front porch.
